Spiral Point Reamer Self-drilling Screws

Spiral Point Reamer Self-drilling Screws

Self-drilling screws with reamers (or cutting wings) fixing wood to steel.

The wings are functioned to damage wood fiber, and they break once hit steel.

What if we use no-wings screws to fix wood to steel?
Before answering this, we need to know the feed rates between self-tapping and self-drilling are different.
In the self-tapping stage, the feed rate is the same to screw thread pitch, let say maybe 1mm per rotation.
When the screw tip meets the steel, it starts drilling, and the feed rate turns to a few microns per rotation.
If the wood is not reamed before drilling steel, the screw will play a role like a threaded rod, and wood will be moved outward the steel.

Sun Through can customize wing size to properly ream wood according to the material.
